I’m not gonna lie… this project almost got the best of me. Almost. Our kitchen backsplash *was* a dated assortment of fruits and vegetables. I gave it a two year grace period by painting it. The paint definitely did the trick, but after a few other updates in the space (painted cabinets, hard wood floor…), the backsplash started to look more and more shabby.
One of the fun things I do on weekends is visit the local flea market and share all the fabulous finds over on my Facebook page. Along with a potentially risque purchase (oops), I came home with this THREE dollar lamp. The only thing wrong with it was a broken socket. That, my friends, is an EASY fix! Keep reading and I’ll show you how!
Getting five kids up and ready each morning is akin to the ironman without all the hydration (I suspect the carb loading is similar). I wanted to share a few of the tricks and tips that help get this busy family moving each day without yelling and screaming and tears*.
*Mostly… there’s still the occasional raised voice, so if you want to count that as yelling… fine.
I decided just to give in and consider the rest of this week, household tips/ nesting week. Like you needed further proof, but housewife is not a title I will ever wear with any degree of success. Yes… I can craft. Yes… I LOVE a project. But NO… brisket in the oven, cocktail mixed, and clothes neatly ironed are rarely anything that crosses my flea market riddled mind. As further proof to this, ever since I fixed up this bureau, my iron has been my #1 tool for wood veneer removal.
