One Tree. Three Ways.

Psssst... this post *might* contain affiliate links: see my disclosure here.

December 5, 2016

Believe it or not… I’ve never had much game when it comes to decorating a Christmas tree. Our tree growing up was lights and a large collection of family ornaments. And that’s how our tree has pretty much been ever since! This year, I’m trying to up my tree game. I wanted to start small and thought it might be fun to decorate the same tree in a few different ways. My friends at Luna Bazaar send me the decorations for this tree… check out their site for more party and holiday decor!

One Tree. Three Ways.

I’m using this simple 24″ tree from Amazon for all of these designs (affiliate link). In hindsight, maybe I should have brought in some garland or other accessories, but my goal was to really highlight the simplicity of a plain tree with the a varied ornament scheme.

I took one basic Christmas tree and styled it three different ways!

Tree #1

Tree #1 is a nod to Scandinavian simplicity. These simple white paper ornaments stand on their own. An overachiever could probably figure out how to DIY them, but I enjoyed just taking them out of the boxes!

These will definitely find their way onto another tree this season.

Tree #2

This tree would be a REALLY fun thing for the kids to get involved with. Here’s what you need: simple round tags and some fun colored packing twine. Bonus points awarded for any design, word or scribble you add to each tag!

Another way to add a little bling to this design would be to string a bead or two onto each piece of twine first.

Tree #3

Third time’s a charm… this beauty is the one I stuck with. I mean… it has a rainbow of mini mercury glass… how could I take this one apart??

Again… there’s no technique here. I simply hung these amazing mercury glass ornaments working my way down the color scale. Rainbow garland would have been a nice touch, but like I said… didn’t occur to me!

As of today, I’ve decorated three trees and guys… it’s just not my calling. I’ll be back on Wednesday for a fun blog hop with other bloggers sharing THEIR trees and I’m already feeling a little insecure about my two that are basically drowning in garlands. Is there a class on tree decorating I can take?!

Don’t forget to PIN IT FOR LATER and come back throughout the week for more Christmas awesomeness. Also… head over to my HOLIDAY tab to keep up with all my holiday posts.

Agree – Like #3 the bes! Honestly I just don’t “get” this concept of a tree that is themed or different every year??!! This sees to be something invented by the industry to sell new ornaments to people every year (trees in bedrooms sees like consumerism at its peak!) . Like my mom and grandmother , we use the same mix of ornaments each year – some inherited, some are made by the kids, some made by ME when I was a kid – replacing a few here and there, adding those that we get as gifts, replacing those that break. I guess that bloggers are becoming more like magazine shoots and need to generate content, but I get enjoyment out of seeing my old ornaments each year!

#3 is still standing! I’m with you. 🙂 And yes… bloggers are definitely becoming more like magazines… and in theory I LOVE the idea of trying something new each year because it’s fun to experiment, but I will ALWAYS love our main tree that we cut down ourselves and let the kids decorate with the family ornament collection… some prettier than others. Ha!

I’m with you – just not a tree decorator. I love looking at beautifully decorated trees but it’s just not my thing. I like the rainbow tree best too.

Next year I’ll honestly start looking for tips… I figured maybe I sucked because I never really had trees to decorate aside from our family tree, but this year it’s confirmed that it’s not my forte! 🙂

I like all three looks but the first one is my favorite I think!
