Easy Bedding Updates from Kohl’s White Sale

Labor Day is upon us which means back to school and SALES! With a large family, there are *always* basics that need to be replaced… towels, sheets, socks, donuts… I took full advantage of the Kohl’s White Sale running from 8/22-9/3 and refreshed a couple beds in our house that were in need of a little spiffing. I figure if every season, I update a few of these items… over time we’ll in be in good shape!

When the girls first started sleeping in the same room, both of them would have the occasional accident at night. After some time, I lost track of which mattress covers were waterproof and which weren’t so I was pumped to see these waterproof mattress pads by The Big One on sale. I love that they are soft and plush like a standard mattress pad, but the underside has a waterproof barrier to protect the mattress (of course I tested it… inquiring mind!).

While I was walking the aisles, I also grabbed a pair of these super cozy super plush blankets. The girls are always dragging their blankets around to make forts or table cloths, so when I see pretty ones that match their room, I don’t waste time getting them!

Louisa spent a little while arranging her bed and  spreading out her new blanket. Then she decided that being under it was preferable so that’s how the photo shoot ended up. #sorrynotsorry

That cute letterboard isn’t part of the white sale, but it was like an aqua sign from the universe when I saw it (pun intended). Martha’s so excited to be reading and writing, so I’m hoping she will unleash some early phonetic skills. ‘Mom rulez, Dad droolz’… ‘Girls are Grate’… ‘More Tacos…’

Moving next door into our room, one thing you might not know about this gorgeous old home of ours is that we don’t have air conditioning. The smaller rooms have window units, but our master bedroom just has a fan (or two). I’m never too bothered, but my dear husband often has trouble sleeping when it’s super hot. Did you know they make pillows and pillow cases that are COOLING?!

I didn’t bother reading the fine print… the description seemed to be the answer to our 90 degree prayers: “Keep yourself cool for a perfect night’s sleep.” Um… where do I sign up?! So a new pillow for Mark and new cooler pillow cases for both of us… we’re waking up fresh as daisies I tell ya!

Now I just need pillows and pillow cases that will make me wake up 10 years younger and 10 hours more rested! If anyone can figure that out, it’s Kohl’s!
