Pom Pom Container
Psssst… this post *might* contain affiliate links: see my disclosure here.
I’m a sucker for a good craft project. And one that involves pompoms? Yep… SOLD. A while back I stumbled across a fun basket over at Anthropologie. The colors aren’t my favorite, but I loved the playful texture of it and any chance to bring in some fun storage is a win for this busy house. Best part? The whole thing cost me $2 and a couple of episodes of the West Wing on Netflix.
Materials needed (affiliates included for your convenience):
• 1 container. This was $1 at the dollar store.
• cotton clothes line
• yarn
• hot glue gun

First step is to make a lot of pom poms! I made a video to show you how simple it is to make PERFECT pom poms here.
If you don’t have the time to watch it, here are the basic steps. (Although the video’s only 50 seconds so this might take you longer to read through! Ha!) Cut out two cardboard “C’s”.
Cut an 18 inch length of yarn and place it BETWEEN the two pieces of cardboard.
Wrap around the cardboard. The more yarn, the thicker the pom pom!
Take the ends of your 18 inch strand and tie the first bit of a knot… don’t tie the complete knot! Place your had on top of the cardboard and press down. As you’re pressing, insert a *sharp* pair of scissors and carefully begin to cut around the edge of the wrapped yarn.
Now’s the time to tie the knot. Gently pull your 18 inch length of yarn tight and tie the knot. Remove the cardboard at this point and…. Boom. If you’d done it right, you have a perfect pom pom!
Grab the container and wrap it with the cotton clothes line. (I LOVE wrapping stuff…. see this ombre lamp I wrapped here!)
Take your hot glue gun and glue on the pom poms. Um… how easy was that?!
Psst… Come back next week to see our newly painted spit shined FAMILY ROOM! Woot woot!!
Love your video, thanks a bUnch.
You’re SO welcome! Thanks for watching!
