Foyer Turned English Countryside
Psssst… this post *might* contain affiliate links: see my disclosure here.
Every foyer must have wallpaper. At least in my house (s).

One of the spaces I love in the new house is this big sprawling foyer. At least it felt big compared to our old TINY one.

Sometimes when I step into a room and start thinking about my design, an idea just pops up. For this long sprawling foyer, an elegant mural of rolling hills and trees immediately came to mind. Specifically, this one from Rebel Walls. I wanted a fun paper but… because of the expanse of wall space I didn’t want to go *too* wild. I loved that this paper was interesting and dynamic but… not too eclectic or overly colorful. This was how the space looked when we moved in… and keep scrolling to see how much better it looks now!

All of the furniture in the space is thrifted. I always tell people to go see what that dresser looked like when I got it. Spoiler- it was painted (yes… I know… why?!) and I had no idea that gorgeous grain was there when I paid $40 for it!

I also made the sheep. Ironically I stumbled across some of the OG sheep at the flea market this fall but I still love this DIY version. If you are curious how she came together, I have a post about her here. The colorful bench was also a Facebook purchase that I reupholstered and then added two bolsters to either end.

At some point this summer, I decided to start collecting images with hound dogs because they reminded me of our sweet coonhound, Rosie. Obviously these are all foxhounds, but… they looks very similar so the gallery wall around the corner at the end of the foyer was born. Yes, I hated to hammer into that wallpaper, but I made a little slice in the wallpaper so it can technically be glued back in place.

The last thing I added to this space was a new overhead light. I would have LOVED to bring in a big and bold light here but… you’ll notice the front door opens UNDER the light so I was greatly limited. I needed to find something that looked cute but was also no deeper than 9-inches. A challenge to be sure. I don’t *love* this one but it was a nice budget option and is definitely better than the builder grade one that was there before.

The rug is one I had custom made from a seller on etsy. I actually love the pattern and the thin weave but the edges have been rolling up a bit so I wouldn’t recommend it for that reason. I’ve been tempted to added some sort of edge banding underneath or take it to a carpet place for them to add a binding but not… today. Mirror an artwork was all given to me by grandparents and that fun green jar was a Goodwill score. (I had one a few years ago until one of my kids rode their scooter into it…)
