Every year on Christmas morning, we all gather in the living room and inevitable, a few of us are sitting on the floor because we only have so many couches and chairs. But NOT THIS YEAR! I’m partnering with Arrow Fastener and DIYd myself a pair of adorable cozy upholstered Christmas present ottomans! Took one afternoon and is a basic BASIC upholstery project… you can do this!
Months and months ago, I dragged this wooden ottoman frame home from the flea market. I loved the global style and the size and figured it would be easy enough to make a cushion for it. It took me almost a year, but I did it…finally… thanks to the Fab Flippin Contest and our sponsor Fairfield World’s amazing foam and batting. If you go back and search this blog, I threaten to “really’ upholster stuff WAY more often than I actually upholster stuff so woohoo for one project done!
Upholstery is hard, y’all. One of my goals for 2015 was to crack the upholstery code a bit, and today’s my first attempt. (I didn’t sew an inch of piping, so I’m still being a little pipe-ist in that regard… but one thing at a time.) I was reading my friend Jen’s blog for her wisdom on upholstery and she posted about the identical kids’ rocking chair to one I’ve had sitting in the basement for, oh… 8 months?
