Awesome Kids Rooms
Psssst… this post *might* contain affiliate links: see my disclosure here.
When we moved into our house, the first rooms I wanted to get settled were all the kids’ spaces. Partly because, let’s be honest… kids rooms are FUN to decorate… but obviously I wanted everyone to feel settled in their new home also! The kids’ rooms haven’t changed too much, and today I’m linking up with my fellow DIY Housewives to share some of our favorite children’s spaces!
The first room I decorated in the new house was Arthur’s nursery. At the time I was 8 months pregnant and we didn’t know whether we were having a girl or a boy! Believe it or not… this was also the FIRST nursery I ever designed and it was SO fun. Click the link above to see the full reveal!

Louisa’s room was already painted a sweet pink and we had that rug (affiliate) so… I tried to bring it all together with a few tricks and strategic flea market shopping. It started out with her crib, and now… she’s graduated to a big girl bed, but the basics stayed the same!
Martha’s room is big. Really big. This summer Louisa will probably move into the bottom bunk but for now, Martha’s got her own palatial space. For her birthday last year, we set up a little desk area in the corner, and I’ve brought in other projects like that coffee table turned ottoman, that upholstered Ikea shelf and of course my favorite light up sign!
Oliver’s room already looks a little different with his new found love for reading since entering kindergarten… It started out as a fun arrangement of various flea market scores I’d been hoarding. And then I made him a trundle bed so his sisters can take turns having sleepovers in there!
Last but not least, is the room I’m linking up today! Eleanor’s bedroom was a not-so-subtle bright yellow with incredible cranberry red curtains. I wanted her to help me with the design and she declared fuchsia as her inspiration color. I talked her down from fuchsia walls, but added curtains and other pink touches instead. We’ve since swapped out the desk for a Restore upcycle, and of course Eleanor’s brought in LOTS of her own personal ‘accessories’… (I shared some of those in my Keeping It Real house tour this fall…) Here’s the before… click the image below to see how it looks now!
The best part of these Housewives days for me, of course, is seeing all projects from my talented pals! Click the pictures below to see all the other amazing kids’ projects!
