I am SO thrilled my friends Krista and April invited me to be part of this Seasonal Simplicity tour because it means our house is 1. clean and 2. READY FOR SPRING! I love color and thrifting and have lots of kids so most of the time my decor is crushed Cheerios and rogue socks! You’re welcome.
I swear I’ve ‘tweeked’ our living room half a dozen times in the 22 months that we’ve been in this house. For those of you who follow my Instagram stories… you know that I completely rearranged the living room after finding a glass coffee table at the ReStore. It’s the “Give A Mouse A Cookie” version of interior design! We’ve been living with this arrangement since December and I *think* this might be the one to stick.
Not gonna sugar coat this for you… I’m a little wobbly crossing the Christmas finish line here, folks! What a season it’s been… filled with SO many wonderful opportunities and terrific holiday collaborations, but… phew. I made the mistake of starting The Walking Dead while I was wrapping presents yesterday and now I’m kind of a little bit hooked. (It’s so gross and scary so why do I want to watch more?!) And then last night we had a fun dinner with friends… anyways, here I am… two days late, finally posting our Christmas tablescape.
Ahhhh, holidays. That time of year when we drive ourselves batty trying to create joy. This year, I listened to my own inner voice a bit more and kept things around the house a little simpler. I’m not sure the end results will put me in the holiday issue of HGTV Magazine, but… I LOVED the process of decorating with ONLY the things that make me happy or ‘work’ in the space.
This falls into the category of easiest cheapest coolest craft project ever. Subtle, yes? Although that may be a sliiiiight exaggeration, this IS one of my favorites and it DID come together for $1 and 15 minutes. I’m just sayin’…
This room has been tucked away for a WHILE which basically means I’ve been enjoying a Christmas tree in my bedroom for longer than I care to admit. Also? I’m still trying to justify a Christmas tree in my bedroom 10 months a year. (Not May or June… I like spring flowers too much!)

A week ago I received an email with the cutest DIY I’ve seen in a while. Did I mention the email was from the uber talented Jenn Largesse at Build Basic and she wanted me to join her and Home Depot for a party. A super cool virtual party with holiday decorations and power tools and dark chocolate (I added the chocolate part). Obvy my response was HECKYEAHIMIN. We needed to follow the basic outline (shown below) of the DIY, but the challenge was to personalize and generally make our post feel like the prom queen.
Holy November, Batman. What happened to October? I’m already loving my One Room Challenge shed and excited to show week 5 progress with you later tonight! But today… I’m teaming up with my homegirls from the DIY Housewives to share some of our favorite Thanksgiving posts! I’ve admitted on the blog before that holiday decorating isn’t something that comes naturally to me. I mean, it does… but usually a few days before the holiday which doesn’t do my readers any good!
I’ve mentioned our newly painted living room on social media but haven’t shared it with you lovely readers yet! It took a trip up to the Cost Plus World Market opening in Hyannis to kick me into action. We’ve always had bright furniture in this room, but with the newly painted white walls and my shopping haul… it all comes together and actually MATCHES!
Confession… I was all ready to share our updated patio with you today until… I realized I wasn’t scheduled to post about it until NEXT week. Good thing I have lots of fun things I’ve promised to share like Eleanor’s cute 7th Birthday Party! She wanted to invite a group of girls over to the house and have an Arts and Crafts party.
