Once a month I circle the wagons and join forces with kindred spirits… lovers of the hunt… my thrifty style team! As you know… you don’t have to look very far over here to put your finger on something thrifted… I love the idea of giving an object new life. Also… I’m cheap. (See ALL my flea market scores here.) Today I’m sharing a project I actually did YEARS ago for the blog, but my pictures suck and I wanted a chance at redemption.
Lately I’ve been worried that if you google “one trick pony” you’ll pull up a happy picture of my face. Sipping a cup of coffee enjoying my maps. Alllll my maps. You know what’s technically a map? Globes! Earlier this summer, I took a thrifted classroom globe and made it into a fun pair of pendant lights.
One of the fun things I do on weekends is visit the local flea market and share all the fabulous finds over on my Facebook page. Along with a potentially risque purchase (oops), I came home with this THREE dollar lamp. The only thing wrong with it was a broken socket. That, my friends, is an EASY fix! Keep reading and I’ll show you how!
I have smart friends. So when one of these super smart friends organized a group of amazing bloggers to share thrifted items that they’re using on a daily basis around their homes, I was like ‘heck yeah!’. Our home is RIDDLED with thrifted repurposed items and I love a chance to talk about them… People often comment that they don’t have the imagination or the foresight to use grubby flea market finds around their homes, so I’m hoping to change the misconception one piece at a time. Today, I’m starting with the good ol’ ombre file cabinet!
Wall Decor. For me… it’s the difference between a house and a home. Getting paintings on the wall always makes a room feel cozier and more finished. There’s still a long way to go before this dining room of ours is complete, but finishing up a few wall decor projects this week has made the room feel exponentially closer to the finish line! See how I transformed a dated nautical mirror into the anchor of this wall in our dining room…
