I *always* love a chance to reimagine a piece of furniture and today’s project is one of my favorites thanks to the chic fabric I was able to use. JOANN sent me some of their Crypton fabric and before I made this, I got to get my infomercial on my testing the fabric and let’s just say… it’s magical.
I’m still waiting on materials for a few big projects around the house so thrift store inspiration projects have been a really fun way to stay creative! I never really know what I’m going to make until I wander the aisles and see something that sparks an idea. This last trip, it was this painted clay wine carafe and the lamp it was destined to become.
One of the accessories I grabbed when I was a featured designer or the One Room Challenge was this modern black planter from Lamps Plus. It’s a great size and brings a bit of chic my sometimes boppy color scheme! I went into the thrift store the other day and picked up some dishes that I thought I could use to make similar version of this planter… for $9. Spoiler: I LOVE the way this turned out!!
I will never get tired of a thrift store makeover. It’s like one open ended experiment. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. I’m not sure about this canvas but I sure had a fun time making it over! Thrift stores are a great place to go for blank canvases. Unless there’s a major coupon a the craft store a big 2×3 canvas can cost upwards of $40. This one was $10 at our grossly over-priced Goodwill. They should be even cheaper!
